UK pledges $73mln for Nigeria’s food security

by Nada Ali

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly announced on Wednesday a $73 million aid package to boost food security in Nigeria, the announcement comes during his 3-country visit to Africa.

The aid is estimated to support more than four million people by helping them develop better farming practices and reduce harmful carbon emissions, according to an official statement.

“Nigeria has a booming population and the largest economy in Africa,” says Cleverly. “There is huge potential for an even closer partnership between UK and Nigerian businesses which will be of mutual benefit to both countries.”
