UAE-Based Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation is set to pump EGP 40 million to develop dates sector in numbers of regions in Egypt other than Siwa, said KIADPAI Secretary General Abdelouahhab Zaid.
He made this comment during the third Egyptian Date Palm Festival in Siwa that has concluded today after running for four days.
The festival aims to shed light on the dates’ sector in Egypt and unify efforts of governmental institutions, research centers and international organizations to promote the sector and find solutions to the problems of producers and manufacturers of dates.
It is organized by the Trade Ministry’s Industry Council for Technology and Innovation in collaboration with the Khalifa International Prize for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, under the auspices of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.
Zaid added that the KIADPAI has renovated and inaugurated Siwa plant for dates that belongs for the Egyptian government. The plant compromises 6 production lines which production exceeds 10,000 tons annually with total investments of EGP 10 billion.
Head of the Trade Ministry’s Industry Council for Technology and Innovation Hanan el-Hadary said that the festival in its third round has witnessed the participation of 189 Egyptian and Arab exhibitors who represents dates manufacturers and exporters.
