Total projects currently run by UAE companies in Greater Cairo amount to 495, with total investments exceeding US$4 billion.
The Head of General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Hassan Fahmy told Al Bayan that UAE investments are spread across Egypt’s governorates, focusing on several sectors, notably telecommunications, IT, real estate and housing, in addition to other service and industrial sectors.
The Egyptian official further noted that the number of the UAE projects in Egypt has remarkably increased over the past period.
UAE’s projects are mainly located in Greater Cairo, and they are headed by those carried out by Al Futtaim, Emaar, Etisalat and Emirates NBD.
The Greater Cairo region consists of three governorates; Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubeya.
