Egyptian and U.S. business and political officials joined in Washington on Wednesday in a grand celebration of the 40th year anniversary of the inauguration of the U.S.-Egypt Business Council.
The establishment of the U.S.-Egypt Business Council had marked the beginning of a new phase in the bilateral partnership between Cairo and Washington.
The event concurs a visit by the American Chamber of Commerce-Egypt’s (AmCham Egypt) annual door knock mission, which started on Monday.
The celebration was attended by the AmCham Egypt’s door knock mission members, including the chamber’s president Tarek Tawfik and Omar Mehanna, chairperson of the Egypt-US Business Council, along with a number of Egyptian and U.S. officials.
A delegation of 35 top-level executives representing U.S. companies and businesses that operate in Egypt is visiting Washington over the course of five days. Delegates are scheduled to meet with members of the U.S. Congress, administration officials, think tanks representatives, media, and leaders from the U.S. business community.
During their meetings, delegates will promote dialogue on important commercial issues and share their perspective on topics of bilateral importance. They will highlight the impact of the economic reform measures on different sectors and the investment opportunities available for U.S. businesses in Egypt.
