Twitter’s video app is planned to launch soon for smart TVs, which is part of the social media platform’s direction towards growing its video content, Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk, announced on Saturday.
Musk and Twitter’s new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, laid out Twitter’s plans, during an investor presentation to focus on video, creator, and commerce partnerships, to revitalise the social media platform’s business beyond digital advertising.
Vertical video accounted for 10 percent of time spent on Twitter, the presentation added.
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has launched his new show on Twitter this month, called Tucker on Twitter, while the social media platform envisions that it could sell ads and sponsorships, as well as videos from Carlson and other content creators.
