Operations in Toyota’s spare parts distribution centre took off Tuesday, the automotive company announced, adding that the centre is the biggest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The centre can serve over 500,000 cars, the company said in an official statement.

The new centre’s inauguration comes as part of the company’s plan to expand its operation in Egypt.   The centre took around two years to be completed, and is built over 30,000 sqm, located in Sadat City.

“The operation of this new distribution centre comes to mirror Toyota’s interest in expansion and providing job opportunities in Egypt,” CEO of Toyota Egypt Ahmed Monsef said. “New integrated services will be available for the first time through customer service.”

According to the Automotive Marketing Information Council’s report (AMIC), car sales, , which include passenger cars, trucks and buses,  increased in the first quarter (Q1) of 2015 by 14.9%, with 72,100 sold cars compared to 62,800 in Q1 of 2014.  The report stated that the sale operations for passenger cars registered 48,900 cars, compared to 42,900 cars, an increase of 14%.

Toyota sold around 7,300 cars during Q1 of 2015, the report indicated.

Discussing the availability of spare parts, Monsef said: “Accredited agents can now be sure that they will get original spare parts as soon as possible at reasonable prices; it all comes as part of Toyota’s effort to ensure the best after-sale services for customers.”
