Toyota is halting operations at all its Japanese assembly factories starting from Tuesday, August 29, due to a computer system failure, the world’s top automaker announced.
“We would like to apologise once again to our customers, suppliers, and related parties for any inconvenience caused by the suspension of operations,” Toyota said.
The production is expected to be back to normal at all 14 plants in Japan from the start of the second shift on Wednesday.
Last year, Toyota was forced to shut down Japanese production after a cyberattack on one of its suppliers led to a system failure and a similar issue obtaining automotive parts.
