Tesla reduced the price of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) driver assistant software from $12,000 to $8,000 in the United States, as reported by Reuters on Sunday.
This move is part of CEO Elon Musk’s ongoing commitment to self-driving technology, which he believes will become a significant revenue source for Tesla, the world’s most valuable automaker.
Despite this, the goal of achieving self-driving capability has remained elusive for years, and the technology is facing increasing regulatory and legal scrutiny.
As per the Tesla website, customers can now purchase the FSD feature for $8,000 or subscribe to it for $99 a month. Tesla has also reduced the US monthly subscription price for the feature to $199 and is offering a month’s free subscription to all Tesla customers.
