Taqa Arabia to build $75mn solar PV power plant in Aswan

Taqa Power -a subsidiary of Taqa Arabia- signed a contract to establish solar PV power plant in the Egyptian governorate  Aswan with investments estimated at more than US$75 million.

The set-to-be plant will operate with capacity estimated at 50 MWs, the company announced in a statement released Monday.

The contract was signed with Gamal Abdel Raheem -chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC)- and Mohamed Salah Sobky- head of New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) with the presence of Mohamed Shaker , Egyptian electricity minister.

On other side, Taqa’s chairman Khaled Abu Bakr stated that this agreement comes among company’s plan to expand in Egypt’s electricity sector which is rich with natural resources.

TAQA Arabia is the largest private sector energy distribution company in Egypt with over 18 years of experience with a diversified sources of energy, investing and operating Energy infrastructure including gas transmission and distribution, power generation & distribution and marketing of petroleum products.
