The volume of Swiss investments in Egypt over the past 40 years recorded 700 million Swiss francs, said the Swiss Embassy in Cairo on Monday.
These investments are placed in more than 200 projects to enhance the country’s infrastructure, the private sector, and the civil society, the embassy said in a statement on Monday.
Marking the 40th anniversary of Swiss-Egyptian development cooperation, Ambassador Raymund Furrer, head of the economic cooperation and development department at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, will arrive in Cairo on Monday on a five-day visit to meet Egyptian officials and discuss boosting future cooperation, the statement continued.
Alongside his meetings with top officials, Furrer will visit El-Sewedy Technical Academy to review the current project implemented by Switzerland and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to enhance employment opportunities and help young people to get access to job markets in Egypt, the statement noted.
Ambassador Furrer will attend a high-level panel discussion on trends, perspectives and solutions related to urban inequality in Egypt, the statement read.
“We can achieve positive and tangible results together with the government of Egypt and our project partners that make a difference to the lives of many ordinary Egyptians,” said Ambassador Furrer.
