Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Saturday the crossing of 39 ships at weight of 1.889 million tons.
22 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 1.033 million tons.
The biggest ship coming from the north was Panama’s container ship MSC Teresa at weight of 158 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 17 at weight of 856 thousand. The biggest ship coming from the south was Bahamas’ container ship Grace Barleria at weight of 103 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7m tons.
