Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Monday the crossing of 52 ships at weight of 2.490 million tons.
27 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 1.279 million tons.
The biggest ship coming from the north was Italy’s container ship MSC Savona at weight of 158 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 25 at weight of 1.210 million. The biggest ship coming from the south was China’s container ship NYK Hyperion at weight of 146 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7 million tons.
