The Egyptian city of New Administrative Capital’s cathedral, which is the largest in the Middle East, will be inaugurated on Sunday, in time for Coptic Christmas mass.
The inauguration of the Cathedral of the birth of Christ will be attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Pope Tawadros II.
With a surface of 7,500 square metres, the new cathedral will incorporate papal headquarters, administrative offices, a main square, papal headquarters, and a reception hall.
It will have the enough capacity to host around 8,200 worshipers.
Announced in March 2015, the New Administrative Capital is projected to include residential districts, solar plants, hospitals, an international airport, and a grand mosque named El Fattah El Aleem.
