Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed the importance of technological universities and technical education during a meeting with Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar on Monday.
Sisi said the state prioritised pre- and post-university education as part of its efforts to achieve comprehensive development.
The meeting tackled efforts exerted to develop the higher education and research systems, particularly the establishment of governmental, international, civil and technological universities, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
Abdel-Ghaffar said three technological universities were in service in Cairo, Beni Sweif and Menoufiya this academic year.
The minister also reviewed national projects carried out by the ministry to develop Egypt’s education and research systems.
Abdel-Ghaffar cited the ranking by British daily The Times, which placed 20 Egyptian universities among the top 1,400 universities in the world.
