Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discussed the de-escalation efforts of the Israeli-Hamas war with the Prince of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on Tuesday.

According to a statement by the Egyptian Presidency, the leaders discussed the latest developments relevant to the military escalation between Palestinians and Israelis in and around the Gaza Strip.

They reviewed “the ongoing intensive contacts with various concerned parties to urge de-escalation and achieve calm to stop the bloodshed and to protect civilians,” the statement said.

Sisi and Tamim noted that civilians are put through “great” humanitarian suffering due to the ongoing military operations.

The statement said that both leaders agreed upon the need to push towards achieving peace in the region by the two-state solution according to the relevant references of international legitimacy.
