Severe storms continue to cancel flights in U.S.

by Nada Ali

More than 7,800 flights across the United States were delayed or canceled on Monday after powerful storms ripped through the parts of the country, mainly in the Southeast and the Ohio Valley, CNN published on Tuesday.

Strong weather moving through the Northeast, especially around New York, seems to be behind most of the issues.

According to data released by FlightAir, about 6,196 domestic and overseas flights were postponed, and another 1,674 were cancelled, on Monday evening.

The Federal Aviation Administration warned that flying in the New York metro area could be a little more chaotic this summer with fewer air traffic controllers available to handle flights than needed.
