Saudi state oil company Aramco has announced an additional 15 trillion standard cubic feet of gas at its Jafurah field, Reuters reported on Sunday, citing Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, who revealed this development.
The total reserves at Jafurah now stand at 229 trillion cubic feet of gas and 75 billion barrels of condensates, Reuters added.
Jafurah, the kingdom’s largest unconventional non-oil-associated gas field, holds significant potential as a shale gas resource. Notably, it could become the largest shale gas development outside of the United States.
Saudi Aramco aims for substantial output: 420 million cubic feet per day of ethane by 2030, as stated on its website. Additionally, the Jafurah field is projected to produce 630,000 barrels per day of gas liquids and condensates by the same year.
