Russian Helicopters, a part of State Corporation Rostec, announced plans to expand its operations in the Egyptian market through increasing its civil helicopter fleet that is dedicated for passenger transportation and emergency.
Alexander Mikheev, CEO of Russian Helicopters, stated on Thursday that his company intends to launch a maintenance centre for Mi-8/17 type helicopters in Egypt by 2017.
This step come within the frame work of the participation of an official delegation from Russian Helicopters in the Russian-Egyptian Business Forum held last May in Cairo, Mikheev added.
Furthermore, the Russian official stressed on the importance of the cooperation with Egypt in the sales and the possible opportunities for manufacturing and assembling helicopters in the Egyptian market.
He also said Russian Helicopters’ fleet in the Egyptian market currently amounts to 108 helicopters.
Russian Helicopters is a leading player in the global helicopter industry, the sole Russian rotorcraft designer and manufacturer and one of the few companies worldwide with the capability to design, manufacture, service and test modern civilian and military helicopters. Headquartered in Moscow, the company operates design bureaus, helicopter assembly plants, components production, maintenance and repair enterprises and helicopter service company providing after-sales support in Russia and abroad. Although Russian Helicopters was established only in 2007, some of its key enterprises date back more than 70 years.
