Qatar Petrochemical Co (Qapco) established a new logistics warehouse in the General Free Zone at Ataqa, Suez Governorate, for the storage of the company’s products in Egypt.

The event was held under the auspices of Qapco chairman Hamad bin Rashid al-Muhannadi and chief executive Dr Mohamed Yusuf al-Mulla, who is also vice-chairman.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by dignitaries and high-level government officials from Qatar and Egypt.

The storage capacity of the new warehouse is 14,000 metric tonnes, which will see the gross storage capacity in Egypt rising to 20,000 metric tonnes, Qapco said.

Al-Mulla said: “Qatar is very proud of the excellent economic and political relations established with the government, people and institutions in Egypt, which have been the driving force for opening the company’s representative office and logistics establishments in the country.
“The new logistics warehouse has been established as an additional service to the Egyptian market. We realise the high significance of this market and appreciate the qualitative shift in the Egyptian economy in all fields.”

“We are aiming to shorten lead time and distances and establish direct relations with the strategic markets to satisfy the needs of our clients in such markets,” al-Mulla said.

The company now has regional logistics warehouses in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon, in addition to three facilities in China.
