Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Wednesday that Cairo-Abu Dhabi relations represent a model of strategic cooperation among Arabs.

Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with visiting Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces, who arrived in Cairo earlier in the day.

Sisi lauded the close historical ties binding the two countries, affirming his keenness to continue upgrading cooperation with the UAE in all fields, the Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a press statement.

For his part, the Abu Dhabi crown prince said the UAE is keen to continue developing mechanisms of bilateral cooperation with Egypt in different fields in a way that helps achieve mutual interests of the two countries’ peoples.

The spokesman noted that the two sides discussed the latest regional developments, particularly with regard to the sabotage attack that targeted four ships near the UAE coasts, in addition to the drone attack that hit two oil pumping stations in Saudi Arabia.

Sisi expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with the UAE and Saudi Arabia to combat all attempts seeking to undermine the two countries’ security and stability, Rady said.

Sisi also stressed Cairo’s firm stance about the security of the Gulf region, which he said is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.
