by Nada Ali

Women are having C-sections without anaesthesia and new-born babies are being fed formula made from contaminated water, as fuel and medical supplies run out in Gaza, according to UNFPA Arab States said on Sunday.

“We have performed C-sections on pregnant women who were injured in the bombardment without anaesthesia and we have also had to clean up severe burns without it,” said Nahhed Abou Taima, director of the Nasser hospital.

UNFPA also mentioned via its account on X platform that the scene of a mother embracing her new-born is supposed to be a moment of pure happiness, but in Gaza the doctors grieve for the lifeless bodies of pregnant women.
