The natural gas consumption rates of Egyptian power plants steadied during the current week at around 3.7 billion cubic feet per day.
A senior source at state-owned Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Amwal Al Ghad Sunday that the rates steadied as the plants have not required additional amounts of fuel.
The source added that rates of natural gas consumption are currently unsteady due to the fluctuated temperatures, i.e. high temperatures lead fuel consumption rates to soar.
Recently, EGAS started procedures of importing the third regasification boat to cover all fuel needs of power plants within the coming period in line with the new plants that are expected to start operating soon.
The source further clarified that the emergency plan of electricity ministry largely participated in avoiding burning massive amounts of gas during the summer so as in previous years.
