Non-petroleum exports record $8.4bn in five months – Egypt’s minister

Egyptian non-petroleum exports rose to US$8.4 billion during the first five months of 2016, marking 3 percent increase in comparison to the same period of 2015.

Egyptian Trade Minister Tarek Qabil stated Tuesday that Egypt’s exports to European Union states recorded around US$2.2 billion in January-May 2016 opposed to US$2.02 billion a year earlier, registering 7 percent growth.

He added that Egypt’s exports to Arab states reached around US$3.8 billion at the end of May 2016 versus US$3.5 billion in May 2015, making 6.6 percent increase while exports to non-Arab African states hit US$1.425 billion.

Minister Qabil clarified that those positive statistics asserts that ministry’s plan to boost Egyptian non-petroleum exports succeeded, thus, leading all export sectors to revive.
