Navigation at the Suez Canal has recorded on Wednesday the second highest rate worldwide in terms of the number of vessels and tonnage, said Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish said.
In a released statement, Mamish added that 72 ships passed the waterway today in the two directions with a tonnage of 5.1 million tonnes.
“These numbers prove the soundness of the vision of the political leadership in Egypt and the efficiency of the SCA management in handling the developments of the world trade movement,” he pointed out.
These record figures reflect positively on the canal’s revenues and confirm the technical and economic viability of the New Suez Canal, he added.
