A mural of Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza was created in Manchester, England as a tribute to the Palestinian journalists in Gaza.

Akse P19 painted the mural and said it is “dedicated to all journalists reporting from Gaza.”

Commissioner of the mural Ali Yousef said that it had “positive” reactions.

Akse P19 has created a number of murals across the city including one of footballer Marcus Rashford and suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst.

He also painted a depiction of Uma Thurman at the same site in 2018.

In a post on Instagram, the artist said that this has been “the deadliest period for journalists covering conflicts since [Committee to Protect Journalists] records began in 1992.”

Israel killed at least 80 media workers covering the attacks since October.

Azaiza has more than 17 million Instagram followers and was recently named “man of the year” by GQ Middle East for his work covering the Israel-Gaza war.
