McDonald’s Corp. is temporarily closing down its U.S. offices this week to prepare for informing employees of its layoffs, and the layoffs come as part of a company restructuring according to Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.
The report added that the company asked U.S. employees and some international staff in an internal email to work from home starting from Monday to Wednesday, so the company can deliver staffing decisions virtually.
However, it is still unclear how many employees will be laid off. According to the WSJ, the company said in the message “during the week of April 3, we will communicate key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization,”
The report also mentioned that McDonald’s asked employees to cancel all in-person meetings with vendors and outside parties in the headquarters.
According to Reuters, the company said in January that it will review corporate staffing levels. This revision come as part of a new business strategy, which might lead to layoffs in some areas and expansion in others.
The company is expected to make announcement of key decisions by Monday.
