Egyptian Leather Exports Grow 22% to EGP1.3bn in 10 Months

Leather Export Council of Egypt revealed that the volume of exports rose by 22% to register around EGP1.3 billion in compared to EGP1 billion in the same period of the previous year.

Chairman of the Council Ahmed Abd-elwahab Short said the sector’s exports increased due to several factors most notably increasing production capacity by 30%, in addition to rising Dollar prices which contributed in exports volume raises by 20 % during the last period as well as the additional value of exports inched up by 30%.

Tanning leather exports registered nearly EGP1.2 billion within the last 10 months of this year while footwear exports reached about EGP76 million and Clothes and leather products recorded EGP25 million according to Foreign Trade report.

European countries are controlling on most of Egyptian exports including leather products worth EGP848 million then Arab countries with EGP35b million and followed by the exports of rest countries that estimated at EGP389 million.
