Kuwait, OPEC member, started full operation of Al-Zour oil refinery by commissioning its third and last distillation unit, according to an official stated on Wednesday.
The Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) CEO Walid Al-Badr said that the launch of the last unit boosted the refinery to its maximum output capacity of 615,000 barrels per day.
Al-Badr also added that the third unit has a capacity of 205,000 barrel per day and is able to process all types of Kuwaiti crude.
“The third and last distillation unit was commissioned this week and this allowed the refinery to operate at full capacity,” he said.
Kuwait control the world’s sixth largest proven oil deposits and Al-Zour is one of the largest oil refineries in the world, worth $16 billion.
