Japan has imported 25.63 million barrels of crude oil in June 2023 from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Sunday. The imports amount to around 37.4 percent of total oil imports in Japan.
In June, Japan’s total crude oil imports were 68.5 million barrels, 97.3 percent of which, or 66.7 million barrels, were provided by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman.
Saudi Arabia was the top oil provider to Japan, with 41.4 percent of total imports in June, which makes both KSA and the UAE the source of more than three-quarters of Japan’s crude oil needs.
It is worth mentioning that the crude oil is crucial source for the Japanese energy security.
