Japan Airlines announced on Wednesday that Mitsuko Tottori, senior managing executive officer, will become the company’s first female president as of April first, Reuters reported.
Tottori joined the company in 1985 as a cabin attendant and through her work became the second woman to serve as a representative director at the airline.
The new president is set to help the airline recover from the pandemic-era and to bring tourists back to Japan.
Japan Airlines has set a target of having women serve in 30 per cent of its manager positions by March 2026.
