Al Jazeera Arabic journalist Wael al-Dahdouh was wounded in his hand and cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa was killed after an Israeli missile attack hit a school in Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Friday.
al-Dahdouh transferred to the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis to receive treatment. Samer was left to bleed to death for over five hours as Israeli forces prevented ambulances and rescue workers from reaching him.
“The network holds Israel accountable for systematically targeting and killing their journalists and their families,” Al Jazeera said in a statement.
Abu Daqqa joined Al Jazeera in 2004, working as a cameraman and editor. He had three sons and a daughter and lived in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, near Khan Younis.
Journalists have been frequent targets of Israeli attacks since the assault on Gaza began on October 7, with at least 18,787 Palestinians killed, including thousands of children.
