The International Labour Organization (ILO) plans to train 1.6 million Egyptian youth to help start their own businesses, its deputy regional director Peter van Rooij said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the International Council for Small Business’s (ICSB) World Congress taking place in Cairo, Rooij said the 2008 global financial crisis had showed economists the importance of considering the interrelationship between the social security and labour market.
The crisis management and how to behave in times of failure techniques will be included in the training programme for entrepreneurs, the ILO official added.
“We should seize the opportunities that the future holds and take advantage of the new products and services the future gives us even if it may reduce certain jobs. Our role is to support people in the transition phase.” Rooij said.
