Huawei to boost Kenya’s green energy transition

Chinese tech giant Huawei expressed on Fraidy its keenness in supporting Kenya to adopt the green energy and speed up low carbon growth, the announcement came during the Huawei FusionSolar Eastern Africa Partner Summit.

Kenya has plentiful renewable energy sources such as solar, geothermal, and wind which can utilized to accelerate the transition of green economy, Victor Koyier, Executive Manager of Business Development at Huawei Kenya, said.

Koyier said that Kenya aims to produce electricity through green energy, adding that there are many technological solutions to support this agenda.

There is a huge demand in Kenya to use solar energy in the commercial and industrial sectors, Koyier remarked.

He assured that Kenya has advanced energy storage systems which would replace diesel-powered machines in order to meet the needs.

Huawei has mini-grids that solar-powered for households that located remotely of the national electricity grid to access affordable electricity, Koyier mentioned.
