Greece Crisis Falls Egyptian Exports To Athens In 2012

Egyptian exports to the Greek market have declined by 39% throughout January-August 2012, recording EGP 628 million; compared to EGP 1.03 billion Egyptian exports in 2011.
According to Egyptian consulate in Athens, the Egyptian exports in Q2 of 2012 recorded EGP 225 million, in return for EGP 374 million during the same period in 2011. Also the Egyptian exports to Greece last August went down to EGP 47 million; compared to EGP 186 million in 2011.
On his part, Anwar Al Sahragty, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Representation Body, told Amwal Al Ghad, the efforts of body in opening four new ports for the Egyptian exports in the Greek market are expected to bolster the Egyptian exports in the coming period. This is because the numerous ports in Greece which receive Egypt’s exports contribute to decrease the freight relative cost.
