The Grand Egyptian Museum started offering a limited number of guided tours on Wednesday, which can only be booked online through www.visit-gem.com/en/home, according to Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities statement.
The tours give visitors access to gardens and the commercial area in the complex, which include restaurants, coffee shops, and various commercial shops.
Moreover, visitors will have access to the Hanging Obelisk, the main hall known as the Atrium, the museum’s gift shop, and the Glass Hall.
In the Atrium, visitors will get to see and admire closely the statue of King Ramesses II, in addition to the victory column of King Merneptah, and two statues of Ptolemaic Era king and queen.
The other side of the museum will remain close until the official opening of the museum. The closed halls include the main galleries, two King Tutankhamun galleries, the Khufu Boat Museum, the Grand Staircase, and the exhibition hall.
Services operator Legacy Development and Management will provide full details of the guided tours on their website.
The Grand Egyptian Museum started hosting private events in November 2022, to ensure the readiness and capacity of the museum before the opening event.
