Exports of Egyptian fertilizers sector leapt by 101 percent in January-August 2016 to US$383.23 million from US$190.25 million a year earlier.
The latest report released by state’s Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council stated that fertilizers sector seized 18.9 percent of Egypt’s total chemicals exports by the end of August.
Around ten firms captured 94.2 percent of Egypt’s fertilizers exports in January-August 2016 with exports estimated at US$361.1 million.
The Egyptian Fertilizers Company (EFC) led the list of largest exporters with exports worth US$110.2 million, getting 31 percent of the total volume.
Following the EFC, Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Co. (AFC) was the second largest exporter with exports estimated at US$50.4 million, then Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) whose exports worth US$49.7 million.
The report showed that 10 states seized 87.6 percent of Egypt’s fertilizers exports in January-August 2016 with exports totaling US$335.7 million.
Turkey was the largest importer of Egyptian fertilizers with imports estimated at $96.4 million (29 percent of the total volume), followed by France whose imports of Egyptian fertilizers recorded $78.2 million (23 percent).
The report stated that Italy’s imports of Egyptian fertilizers hit $44.8 million while Greece fertilizers imports worth $31.9 million.
