Egyptian Trade and Industry Ministry aims at raising exports volume to US$30-34 billion by 2020, Minister Tarek Qabil stated Monday.
During his meeting with a number of export councils chairmen to discuss export strategy until 2020, the minister said that the total volume of Egypt’s exports reached around 18.5 billion by 2016.
The ministry is currently designing an inclusive strategy for exporting system in cooperation with different export councils, Qabil noted, adding that the strategy focuses on determining markets as well as the competitive privileges of each export sector.
The minister asserted that the Egyptian products enjoy considerable opportunities to enter new markets notably the African, European, and Arab ones.
During the meeting, all sides showcased strategy’s axes that include creating exporting climate, current obstacles facing export sector, as well as the plan of each council to double exports within the coming four years.
The meeting was attended by Walid Gamal Eldin -Head of Export Council for Building Materials-, Saeed Ahmed – Head of Home Textile Export Council-, Khaled Abu El Makarem -Chairman of Chemical Export Council-, and Amr Abou Freikha- Head of Engineering Export Council.
