Euro area annual inflation up to 2.9% – Eurostat

The Euro area annual inflation rate rose in December 2023 to 2.9 per cent, against 9.2 per cent a year earlier, Eurostat data showed on Wednesday.

The European Union’s annual inflation was at 3.4 per cent in December 2023, going up from 3.1 per cent in November.

The Eurostat also said that the lowest registered annual rate was in Denmark at 0.4 per cent, followed by Italy and Belgium both at 0.5 per cent.

The highest annual rate was recorded in Czechia at 7.6 per cent, preceded by Romania at 7.0 per cent and Slovakia at 6.6 per cent.

The euro area consists of Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Finland.
