Enactus Cairo (Cairo University) representing Egypt has won the Enactus World Cup 2019 beating Germany, USA and Canada to the first place and impressing national competition judges with the positive impact they achieved through entrepreneurial action throughout the year .

They have innovated sanitary pads (Rosie Pads) made out of banana fibres that are two-times more absorbent than other alternative. Moreover, it has been tested for absorptivity, bacterial count, and fluid retention, as well as accredited by the Ministry of Health.

Rosie pads  are organic pads for women in rural areas who suffered the consequences of lacking access to proper sanitary pads. As a result, they were forced to resort to unhygienic alternatives, such as rags, that lead to harmful diseases, including ovarian cancer and the unfortunate increase of unemployment among women and girls respectively.

These pads are eco-friendly, more affordable than ordinary pads and do not contain plastic. Since the development of Rosie, approximately 37,500 individuals have been impacted, directly and indirectly.
