The Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) is organising meetings with several foreign ambassadors in February, according to Secretary General of EJB, Salem Mashhour.

The move comes as part of moves to recommend international companies to attend Egypt’s much hyped Economic Summit, to be held in March in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Mashhour announced that, in February, the EJB will meet with ambassadors of Germany, India, and Russia, and will invite the Italian ambassador in 1 March.

The government assigned the EJB to communicate with representatives of a number of international business organisations over Summit arrangements. There will also be discussions regarding encouraging and developing the economy, making use of its external relations which deem it committed to bilateral cooperation protocols.

He added that, in these meetings, an agenda was laid out to meet with the German ambassador on 9 February, the Russian ambassador on 12 February, the Indian ambassador on 15 February, and with the Italian ambassador on 1 March.

The association is looking to arrange a meeting with the US and Greek ambassadors, which remain unconfirmed, according to Mashhour.

Mashhour added that these meetings aim to conduct consultations with foreign countries’ ambassadors to offer potential cooperation between the association’s members and businessmen of these countries. It will also be an opportunity to gain knowledge of the ambassadors’ demands a month before the conference.

Association Chairman Hossam Farid told Daily News Egypt that the EJB intends to invite members from 18 associations in Europe, the GCC, and Africa. The association had signed cooperation protocols for participation in the summit with the invited members.

The EJB has approximately 40 opportunities in different sectors including spinning and weaving, energy, and food industries, according to Mohamed Nader, chairman of the facilitating business committee in the association.

Each sector will have a separate document including its investments opportunities and the potential sales size, in addition to profit rates in each sector, according to Nader.

“During the summit, the major role of the association is to develop entrepreneurship, and small and medium-sized projects,” said Mashhour.
