Eastern Co. is currently considering the possibility of producing electronic cigarettes as studies suggest that there will be higher demand for them as being a less harmful alternative to traditional cigarettes.
The tobacco manufacturer is studying consumer demand for this kind of cigarettes and consulting with e-cigarette manufacturers ahead of launching the new product in the market after obtaining the required licences, according to a bourse disclosure on Tuesday.
During the first half (H1) of FY20/21, the company reported net profits of EGP 2.54 billion.
Revenues went up to EGP 8.16 billion in the July-December period of 2020 from EGP 7.69 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier.
