Egypt’s stock exchange to open carbon certificates for free

The Egyptian Stock Exchange’s (EGX) chairman Ramy El-Dokany announced on Monday the market is preparing to launch the carbon emission certificates by 2023 to be free in the first period.

El-Dokany made his remarks during a carbon market workshop has organised by EGX for the media professionals and journalists to convey the vision and simplify the terminology for the dealers.

African carbon certification market is a platform to help economic entities working in various productive activities in Egypt and Africa engage in carbon emission reduction activities, El-Dokany explained.

During COP 27, EGX has launched the first African voluntary carbon market, aiming to ensure more commitment from the private sector to confront climate change.
