The Egyptian Cabinet decided to allow restaurants and cafes to remain open until midnight instead of 10pm, and raise their maximum capacity to 50 percent from 25 percent as government ease some coronavirus lock-down measures.

These measures come into effect on Sunday. The shortened hours were first in effect to clamp down on the spread of covid-19.

The prime minister added that commercial shops and commercial centers (malls) will be closed at 10 pm, and that cinemas and theatres will operate with a capacity up to 25 percent.
