Egypt’s Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker said that the private sector is currently developing renewable energy projects worth $4.4 million, which would raise the country’s capacity of renewable power to 10,000 MW by the end of 2025.
Among the most prominent companies currently involved in renewable energy projects are Aqua Power, AMEA Power, Engie, Orascom, and Toyota alliance, as well as Siemens Gamesa.
Egypt is seeking to export up to 5.6 million tons of green hydrogen annually, with the aim of reaching eight percent of the global market’s share of hydrogen, Shaker made his remarks during Al Ahram Energy conference.
The government expects total FDI in green hydrogen projects to reach $81.6 billion by 2035, aiming to integrate these projects into the National Energy Strategy 2035 within the framework of plans reduce emissions from the energy sector.
