Egypt’s Prime Minister, Moustafa Madbouly, reviewed a proposed initiative by French company Schneider Electric to build 1,000 smart homes, according to a statement by the Egyptian cabinet on Tuesday.
Madbouly met on Tuesday with Schnider’s president for Northeast Africa and the Arab Levant Sebastian Reyes, to discuss the initiative based on directives of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the statement added.
The company currently produces various components at its factory in Badr Industrial City. It is considering the potential for local manufacturing of smart home technology components in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the statement said.
These homes significantly reduce carbon emissions by relying on renewable energy sources and ensuring uninterrupted electricity. The design also prioritises energy efficiency and data security for administrative, service, and residential units.
Madbouly asked for a feasibility study of Schneider Electric initiative. This study should include the cost, percentage of local components, and its impact on reducing electricity bills and carbon emissions.
