Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly has ordered the speeding of work on the El-Tawarei Canal Axis development project.
The project aims to set up an urban area surrounding the axis of the canal stretching from Gesr El-Suez until Belbeis desert road.
Madbouly, in statements while following up on the development work of the canal, said that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is following up on the implementation of this important project.
The project includes setting up a two-way axis, with each road consisting of three lanes, in addition to eight bridges.
Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed El-Assar, Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Molla, Housing Minister Assem El-Gazzar, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel-Aal, Qaloubiya Governor Alaa Marzouq, and other senior officials accompanied the premier.
Madbouly underlined the importance of stepping up security along the canal axis to secure the removal of shanty houses and prevent any attempt to build new ones.
Cairo Governor Abdel-Aal said shanty houses and huts built along the canal have been removed and 789 out of 1,056 families were re-settled in Ahalina 1 project.
Efforts are being exerted to re-settle the rest of families, he said.
