Egypt’s new administrative capital is just the beginning of stimulating a comprehensive development for the Sinai Peninsula, Minister of Housing Assem El Gazar said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the Builders of Egypt Forum taking place in Cairo, Minister El Gazar said the government has embarked an urbanisation process for unexploited areas across east Cairo to eventually reach the Sinai province as part of bigger development and security goals.
He added that the Egyptian government aims to double the size of populated areas nationwide in line with the state’s strategy to achieve a comprehensive economic development “in the first place as it’s not just a process of building new housing units,” he added.
The city, known simply as the New Administrative Capital, is designed to run with smart technology on virgin land away from the clutter and chaos of congested Cairo. The city will have official opening later this year.
It is being designed as a high-tech model for Egypt’s future.
