Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, dropped by 11.4 percent month-on-month (MoM) to an initial 98.5 in April from 111.2 in March.
The mining and quarrying manufacturing index rose by 15.9 percent to 199.3 in April from 172.0 a month earlier, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said.
Meanwhile, the rubber and plastic manufacturing index increased by 12.6 percent MoM to 49.9 from 44.3 in March, due to the growth in sales of rubber-made medical supplies.
On the other hand, the index of printing and reproduction of recorded media declined by 12.6 percent to 75.2 in April from 86.1 in March.
Additionally, the index of machinery and equipment fell by 29.0% MoM to 82.8 in April from 116.6
