The Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade has prepared a comprehensive and ambitious strategy to develop the system of conventions and conferences to be implemented within five years, 2014-2014. The ministry is aiming at establishing as strong developed industry for the conventions and conferences, pursuant to the latest and best global criteria to make Egypt an important commercial and economic center to attract the various whipping regional and global conventions.
Eng. Hatem Saleh, Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, has referred that this strategy will be implemented in cooperation with the government, private sector, donor institutions, business organizations and scientific institutions, besides utilizing the global experiences in this field. Saleh added that a team work will be formed to set an investment map for the system of the interior conventions, and a feasibility study for establishing regional centers for conventions and conferences in Egypt’s governorates.
The conventions industry is one of the promising industries that could be a main resource for the national income, as it achieves economic, touristic and cultural revenue, Saleh said; pointing out that the new system of the conventions and conferences will achieve deadly sustainable economic development and attract new investments inside the sector. Also, it will be a key factor in reactivating various economic sectors, promoting Egyptian products, increasing the number of tourist arrivals in Egypt, in addition to providing thousands of both direct and indirect job opportunities.
