Egypt’s imports from the U.S. increased by 5.9 percent last year to a record $6.8 billion, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Sunday.
Imports of grains, oilseeds, and vegetables accounted for 33.6 percent of the total imports, with a value of $2.3 billion, the report mentioned.
Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, announced this month a plan to support imports during the next fiscal year with a budget of 30 billion Egyptian pounds. While last year’s budget was 8 billion pounds.
